Shelby County Area Go Texan Committee

The Shelby County Area Go Texan Committee is a volunteer organization affiliated with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR). The SC Area Go Texan Committee promotes the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and its scholarship programs.

The Shelby Co. group participates in the HLSR BBQ cookoff every year and brings back a scholarship for a local senior. The Spring Fling fundraiser raises funds for local students who applied for the HLSR scholarship, but was not awarded at the state level. With the total raised in 2025, the Shelby County Area Go Texan Committee has awarded over $1 million dollars in scholarships to Shelby County seniors.
